tcbiomass2013 Releases Conference Program
7/23/13 Des Plaines, IL
Gas Technology Institute (GTI) is proud to present the program for the third international conference on thermochemical biomass conversion science, tcbiomass2013. The conference will bring together experts and visionaries in gasification, pretreatment, pyrolysis, and upgrading to explore the world of bioenergy, September 3-6 2013 in downtown Chicago, IL USA.
The theme of this year’s event is Making it Real. Speakers from numerous facets of the bioenergy arena will discuss how the use of biomass to produce renewable and sustainable fuels is becoming a reality as industry experts move advanced conversion processes into commercial projects. Keynote speakers include:
The response to the call for abstracts was excellent, and the Technical Program Committee was challenged to select among a record number of high-quality submissions. The program that the committee has assembled is very strong, with presenters on the leading edge of both R&D and deployment of technologies for a variety of biomass conversion options. Plenary presentations from key government and industry stakeholders frame the 36 oral and more than 100 poster presentations, as well as a highly competitive student poster contest with a $1,000 cash prize.
- Dr. David Danielson, Assistant Secretary of EERE, U.S. Department of Energy (invited)
- Dr. Alan Del Paggio, Vice President, CRI Catalyst Company
- Ingvar Landalv, Senior Project Manager—LTU Biosyngas Program, Luleå University of Technology
- Dr. Mitch Loescher, Director of Technology, KiOR
- Robert Sturtz, President & CEO, Fueling California and Vice President of Business Development, World Fuel Services
The program will also feature a new Virtual Tour segment showcasing key thermochemical facilities around the world. Attendees will tour the globe in minutes and learn how today’s industry experts are moving advanced biofuels along the path to commercialization.
Beyond the technical presentations, exclusive workshop, and virtual tour videos, tcbiomass2013 will offer a number of rich networking opportunities. A welcome reception will kick-off the event on Tuesday evening at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers alongside the Chicago River. On Wednesday, attendees will have another chance to interact with colleagues at a special dinner event held at Chicago’s famed Field Museum.
Participants attending tcbiomass2013 will be at the center of international collaboration, learning about the latest research, development, and deployment results for thermal biomass conversion technologies and systems. In an event organized in coordination with tcbiomass2013, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Bioenergy Technology Office will host a Natural Gas-Biomass to Liquids Workshop preceding the conference on Tuesday, September 3 to discuss the role of DOE’s involvement in new process technology RD&D combining these two natural resources.
Visit Chicago this September and help accelerate the expansion and application of bioenergy. Registration is open, with discounts for companies sending multiple delegates as well as students.
