GTI Training Team Adds New LNG Expert
02/03/15 Des Plaines, IL
Gas Technology Institute (GTI) announced today that Margaret Kaigh Doyle has joined the company to help drive GTI’s global business and training opportunities in liquefied natural gas (LNG) — one of the cleanest, safest, and most efficient energy sources available today and one of the fastest growing segments in the gas market.
"We are very excited to welcome Margaret to our team. As global gas demand continues to grow, Margaret’s level of proficiency in LNG and business development is a perfect fit for GTI," says Rod Rinholm, Executive Director, Business Development and Education. "We’ll leverage her wealth of experience and expertise to increase our exposure in the LNG sector including marine, rail and exploration and production (E&P)."
Prior to joining GTI, Margaret was the Vice President of Development and LNG Solutions at the U.S. Maritime Resource Center. She is a longstanding appointed member of the U.S. Coast Guard Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) and chairs the CTAC subcommittee tasked with developing recommendations for safety standards for the design of vessels carrying natural gas as a cargo or a fuel. Margaret also participates on the U.S. Delegation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on LNG matters. She is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and holds advanced degrees in engineering from The George Washington and Pennsylvania State Universities.
GTI leads a slate of research and development (R&D) and training programs focused on LNG across the energy value chain. Key initiatives are directed at natural gas clean-up, small-scale natural gas liquefaction, the use of LNG as a transportation fuel and in other applications, and interchangeability. We also provide information resources and offer knowledge-based services on the technical, economic, business, and regulatory aspects of the LNG industry, and can assist in building public awareness and educating stakeholders.
GTI has been a leader in LNG training and education since the industry’s inception and offers online training and open-enrollment courses, as well as comprehensive onsite training programs for private clients, in all aspects of the LNG industry. “We have a legacy of helping companies develop skill sets and accomplish strategic objectives,” adds Rinholm.
Topic areas include an overview of the LNG industry, terminal design and operations, peak shaving plants and operations, as well as detailed training for plant operating personnel. The modular courses can be customized to address specific client issues and our programs accommodate the needs of employees with varying experience levels.
GTI's training has received great response from the industry, and we are refreshing our programs this year to add curriculum specifically developed for small-scale LNG stakeholders. These offerings will be a mix of open enrollment and customized courses, including training on stakeholder awareness, bunkering, E&P, and LNG as a rail and marine fuel, including use in passenger ferries.
