GTI Announces Acquisition of Fisher-Nickel, Inc. Commercial Foodservice Energy Efficiency Specialists
01/14/14 Des Plaines, IL
GTI International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gas Technology Institute (GTI), today announced it has acquired Fisher-Nickel, Inc. (FNI), a California-based engineering consulting firm with deep expertise in commercial kitchen energy efficiency and appliance performance testing. With this business move, GTI will enhance its overall portfolio and build upon its legacy of innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
For over twenty-five years, FNI has worked under contract to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) on its globally recognized Food Service Technology Center (FSTC) program. Under the program, FNI has developed over 40 standard test methods (STMs), impacted energy efficiency codes and standards, produced reports and documentation, hosted seminars, provided site surveys and audits, and supported customer management efforts for the commercial foodservice industry. FNI also helped develop the Energy Star® Program for Commercial Food Service, which FNI continues to support. In addition, it provides fee-based services such as site surveys and site-survey training, energy efficiency educational seminars and training, and facility design and equipment specification assistance.
Fisher-Nickel represents an excellent complement to GTI’s traditional energy efficiency R&D focus, as well as the GTI Emerging Technology Program (ETP) that is engaged with over twenty energy utilities seeking to accelerate the use of new and more efficient end use equipment.
"We see tremendous potential for FNI to bring even greater impact to energy utility companies, their restaurant and institutional food service customers, and suppliers in this key commercial market segment," says Ron Snedic, GTI International President and Vice President of Corporate Development at GTI. "Fisher-Nickel aligns well with GTI's future vision for energy efficiency and supports the key pillars of our overall strategic framework, and we're very excited about the opportunities ahead."
